Lithology and Thickness

Divided into three sub-suites: Lower - cordierite-biotite gneisses, Middle - biotite-sillimanite gneisses, and Upper - crystalline biotite slates. The rocks have undergone strong diaphthoresis. The transition from the Lower sub-suite of cordierite-biotite gneisses to the Middle sub-suite of biotite-sillimanite gneisses is gradual. In all sub-suites, among the gneisses and crystalline slates, there are interlayers of quartzites and low-power amphibolites. Thickness 1000-1500m.

Lower contact

The base of the formation is not exposed

Upper contact

It is conformably (?) overlain by the Malyand Fm.

Regional extent

South-West Gissar, Surkhantau Ridge, middle part of the basins of the Malyangur, Obizarang, and Nauran rivers.

Age 

The Proterozoic age is established very conditionally based on its position in the section and the high degree of metamorphism. According to E.D. Bezuglov et al. (1980), the suite is not an independent subdivision, corresponding to contact-metamorphosed formations of the Malyand Fm of the Lower Paleozoic; in the Strat. sl. (442) it is conditionally Lower Proterozoic; on the State Geolmap-500 of Uzbekistan (460) conditionally dated to the Late Proterozoic.
